Be Sound! Eagles, Whales & Solsbury Hill
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Nikola Tesla
This is one of my favorite teachings I had with Herman. I revisit it often. One day Herman said to me, “BE SOUND. Experience yourself as sound.”
“Hmm okay, I am game.”
“Begin by standing in my heart!”
“What?!” I incredulously exclaimed.
“Stand in my heart!” The low resonating voice was clear, directive and imperative. Eager and willing, I agreed. I expected Herman would begin some dissertation and I would listen. Nope. That is not at all what happened. In a blink of an eye, in a flash, immediately and quite unexpectedly, I was transported! In my next moment of consciousness, I was beholding a breathtaking image inside a round, illuminated tunnel. The walls appeared as a bright, glistening membranous tissue. The sheen of the outermost layer created a luminous light. I could see clearly through the delicate tissue walls. My form spanned the entire height of the tunnel. Just on the other side of the live, tissue-like walls was a vast nebula of thin light venous fibers of blue and red. Oh my God! Realization dawned on me, I am standing in Herman’s heart.
My initial thought was that I must be riding Miss Frizzle’s Magic School Bus! I was standing inside the heart of a whale. Interestingly, that wasn’t the outrageous part. I maintained just enough awareness to comprehend the notion of where I was standing when in the next breath, a tsunami coursed through me. It was an enormous vibration BOOM BOOM BOOM! Every cell of my body pulsated with the rhythm Boom Boom Boom! This was not at all a cacophony of sound but rather a harmonious and coherent intelligent vibration that caused each cell to dance. Like a crumb bouncing up and down on top of a speaker, my every fiber moved, resonating and pulsing in unison with Herman’s heart. I was sound! It required no effort and no mental processing. I felt at home deep in the heart of this incredible creature. To this day, that feeling doesn’t dwindle.
Peter Gabriel sings of a similar experience with an eagle in my all-time favorite, “Solsbury Hill”.
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing, stretching every nerve
Had to listen, had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom, boom, boom
"Son", he said, "grab your things, I've come to take you home"
Many others have heard me jubilantly belting out my adapted version, BOOM BOOM BOOM!!! “Girl,” He said, “I have come to take you Home!”
